A dental implant replaces the root of a missing tooth. It is a titanium post placed into the jawbone, which fuses with the bone over a period of months and then carries a crown, a bridge or a full set of fixed teeth. Unlike a bridge, it does not require the teeth on either side to be cut down, and unlike a denture, it does not rest on the gum and move.

This page covers what the treatment involves at Advanced Dental Care Center in Sector 18-A, Chandigarh: who carries it out, whether you are a candidate, which implant systems are used, what drives the cost, how long it takes, and what the options are if you have been told you do not have enough bone. Visit our smile gallery to see the results of our cases.

Who places your implant

Implant treatment has two halves. The surgical half puts the implant in the right place. The prosthetic half designs and fits the tooth that sits on top. Done well, they are planned together from the start, because the position of the implant is determined by where the final tooth needs to be — not the other way round.

At this clinic both halves are handled in-house by different specialists rather than by one general dentist attempting both. Dr. Anshu Gupta, MDS gold medalist from PGIMER Chandigarh, leads treatment planning and the prosthetic work — the crown, bridge or full-arch restoration and how it looks and functions. Surgical cases, particularly those involving bone loss, are carried out by the clinic's oral and maxillofacial surgeons, one of whom holds a fellowship in oral implantology and works with zygomatic and pterygoid techniques. Where gum disease has contributed to tooth loss, that is treated first under periodontics, because an implant placed into unhealthy tissue will not last.

Full qualifications for each of the doctors are published on the doctors page. It is a fair question to ask of any clinic: who specifically will perform my surgery, and what is their postgraduate qualification in it.

Are you a candidate for dental implants

Most people who are missing one or more teeth can have implants. The assessment looks at four things: how much bone is available in the site, the health of your gums, your general medical history, and whether you smoke.

Bone is the most common obstacle and the most commonly misunderstood. Bone begins to resorb once a tooth is lost, so the longer a gap has been there, the more likely grafting is required. Insufficient bone does not usually mean implants are impossible — it means an extra step, or a different technique. The candidacy page goes into the detail.

Medical conditions rarely rule implants out on their own, but they change the planning. Uncontrolled diabetes, blood thinners, bisphosphonate medication, a history of head or neck radiotherapy and active periodontal disease all need to be known before surgery is scheduled. Bring your current prescriptions to the consultation.

Smoking measurably raises the risk of implant failure. It is not an automatic disqualification, but you should be told honestly what it does to your odds rather than have it go unmentioned.

Diagnosis: what the plan is based on

Every implant case here starts with an in-house CBCT 3D scan rather than a flat X-ray. A two-dimensional film cannot show bone width, and it cannot show exactly where the inferior alveolar nerve or the maxillary sinus sits relative to the planned implant site. A CBCT can.

From that scan the implant position is planned in guided surgery software before the day of surgery, so the angle, depth and position are decided in advance rather than judged by eye during the procedure. That matters most in the cases where margins are tightest — a lower molar close to the nerve, or an upper back tooth beneath the sinus. The full equipment list is on the technology page.

Having the scanner on site also means the scan, the consultation and the written plan happen in a single visit. If you are travelling in from Mohali, Panchkula, Zirakpur or further, that is the difference between one trip and three.

Implant systems used

Implants are not a commodity. The system chosen affects the surface treatment, how predictably it integrates with bone, the range of components available for the restoration, and — importantly — whether parts will still be manufactured in fifteen years when something needs replacing.

This clinic works with Nobel Biocare, Straumann, Zimmer Biomet and Osstem, with Adin as our budget system. Nobel Biocare, Straumann and Zimmer Biomet are long-established premium systems with extensive published research behind them and a wide range of components. Osstem is a high-volume system that performs well and costs less, and Adin offers a reliable, lower-cost option for suitable cases. The system is matched to the case and to your budget, and you are told which one is going into your mouth and why. Further detail is on the implant systems page.

Dental Implant Cost in Chandigarh: What You Pay and What It Includes

A single dental implant costs Rs 18,000 to Rs 65,000 at this clinic, about USD 190 to USD 685. Full-Mouth All-on-4 and All-on-6 treatment is Rs 4,00,000 to Rs 8,00,000, about USD 4,210 to USD 8,420, including the final fixed teeth. What sits outside these figures is preparatory surgery your jaw may need, such as bone grafting, which runs Rs 10,000 to Rs 45,000 per site depending on how much is required. This page explains what drives the number so you can compare two quotes honestly, including ours.

At Advanced Dental Care Centre in Sector 18 Chandigarh, implant treatment is carried out by Dr. Anshu Gupta, MDS Gold Medalist (PGIMER Chandigarh), with over 25 years of experience and more than 15,000 implants placed, supported by a team of experienced oral and maxillofacial surgeons.

Current implant pricing

All US dollar figures are calculated at Rs 95 to one US dollar and rounded. Exchange rates change,

so treat them as a guide rather than a quotation.

Single implant, budget system: from Rs 18,000, about USD 190. This uses an established system, currently Adin, placed with the same CBCT-guided planning and aftercare as every other case here.

Single implant, premium systems: Rs 25,000 to Rs 65,000, about USD 265 to USD 685, using systems such as Nobel Biocare, Straumann, Zimmer and Osstem. Where a case falls in that range depends on the system and the position of the tooth.

All-on-4 and All-on-6 full mouth: Rs 4,00,000 to Rs 8,00,000, about USD 4,210 to USD 8,420. This includes implant placement, abutments and the final fixed teeth. Be careful comparing it against a lower "starting from" figure elsewhere that covers placement only and prices the final teeth separately.

Bone grafting: Rs 10,000 to Rs 45,000 per site, about USD 105 to USD 475, depending on how much bone has to be rebuilt. This is quoted after a scan, because the extent cannot be judged before one.

Pterygoid implants: Rs 35,000 to Rs 45,000 per implant, about USD 370 to USD 475 , for significant upper jaw bone loss, often avoiding the need for grafting.

Zygomatic implants, complete upper jaw reconstruction: Rs 3,00,000 to Rs 4,00,000, about USD 3,160 to USD 4,210, for severe upper jawbone loss where conventional implants are not an option.

Pricing is current as of September 2026 and is confirmed in writing after your consultation and CBCT scan.

Why two implant quotes differ so much

The implant system. We work with several systems rather than a single house brand, so the system can be matched to the case. The difference between our budget and premium tiers is the manufacturer and the volume of long-term research behind each system, not the planning, the surgery or the aftercare. Premium systems carry decades of published clinical data, which is what you are paying the difference for. The practical issue with an undocumented implant from anywhere is not the surgery, it is the next twenty years: if a component loosens or fractures in 2045, someone has to source a matching part, and that is only possible if the system still exists and is documented.

The state of your jawbone. Bone that has resorbed after years without a tooth may need grafting, a sinus lift, or a technique that avoids grafting altogether. Cases where other clinics have said there is not enough bone are handled surgically at this clinic, including zygomatic and pterygoid implant approaches. These add cost, and no honest quote can include them before a scan.

Where the tooth sits. Some positions in the mouth are simply harder to work in than others, which affects chair time. A molar and an incisor are not the same job.

How many teeth are involved. Replacing several teeth is not the single-tooth price multiplied out. A full arch on four or six implants, covered on the All-on-4 page, is planned and priced as one case.

What we will not tell you before an examination

We will not give you a final price over the phone or from a photograph. We will not tell you how many implants you need, or whether you need grafting, until there is a scan to look at. Any clinic that does is guessing, and a guess that turns out low is worse than no number at all.

We will also tell you when an implant is not the right treatment for you. If a tooth can be saved with root canal treatment, saving it is usually cheaper and better than extracting it and placing an implant. If a bridge suits your situation better, we will say so.

How long implant treatment takes

A straightforward single implant is usually placed in one appointment. The implant then needs time to integrate with the bone before the final crown is fitted, and that healing period is measured in months rather than weeks. Where a bone graft is needed first, add further healing time before the implant is placed.

Immediate-load protocols, where a temporary tooth is fitted the same day, are possible in selected cases, so you leave with a tooth rather than a gap. Whether yours is one of them depends on bone quality and the position in the mouth. For overseas patients, selected cases can be completed from implant placement to final fixed teeth within 2 to 3 weeks. Stage-by-stage timings are on the treatment timeline page.

Anyone promising a finished, permanent tooth in a single visit for every case is describing marketing rather than biology.

Who this treatment suits, and who it does not

Implants work well for most adults with a missing tooth and adequate bone, and they prevent the bone loss that follows an empty socket. They are not automatically the right answer for everyone. Uncontrolled diabetes, smoking, certain medications affecting bone, and active gum disease all affect how well an implant integrates, and gum disease needs treating first. Bring your medical history and current prescriptions to the consultation so this gets assessed properly rather than discovered later.

Patients travelling for treatment

Patients come to this clinic from across Punjab, Haryana, Himachal and Delhi NCR, and from abroad. Treatment is sequenced around your travel dates, with as much as possible completed in one trip and review afterwards. The practicalities, including how the healing period affects a second trip, are set out on the dental tourism page and answered in detail in the dental tourism FAQ.

One thing worth saying plainly to travelling patients: if the timeline in your plan does not fit the trip you can actually take, we will tell you before you book flights rather than after.

Common questions about implant cost in Chandigarh

What does the implant price include?

Single implant pricing covers the implant and the abutment: from Rs 18,000 (about USD 190) with our budget system, Adin, and Rs 25,000 to Rs 65,000 (about USD 265 to USD 685) with premium systems. The crown is charged separately and listed in your written plan. Bone grafting, where your case needs it, is Rs 10,000 to Rs 45,000 per site and is quoted after a scan. All-on-4 and All-on-6 pricing is all-inclusive, covering placement, abutments and the final fixed teeth.

Why is the same implant quoted at very different prices around the city?

Usually because the quotes cover different things, the implant systems are different, or one of them excludes grafting that the case will need. Ask each clinic for the total to a finished tooth, in writing.

Is the budget implant system a worse implant?

It is a different manufacturer, not a different standard of care. The planning, the CBCT scan, the surgery and the aftercare are the same. Premium systems cost more because of the research and brand-specific technology behind them, and for some cases that technology matters. We will tell you which tier suits your case and will not push you to a more expensive system than your case needs.

Can I get an implant if I was told I do not have enough bone?

Often, yes. Grafting, sinus lift, ridge split, and zygomatic and pterygoid implants exist precisely for those situations. Pterygoid implants are Rs 35,000 to Rs 45,000 per implant, about USD 370 to USD 475, and zygomatic reconstruction of the upper jaw is Rs 3,00,000 to Rs 4,00,000, about USD 3,160 to USD 4,210. That assessment is worth a second opinion before you accept dentures as the only option.

How long before I have a finished tooth?

Typically several months from placement to final crown, because the implant must integrate with bone first. Some cases allow a temporary tooth on the day of surgery.

What moves the price within those ranges is straightforward: the implant system chosen, whether a bone graft or sinus lift is required first, the material of the final crown, and the number of implants a full-arch case needs.

The thing to watch when comparing clinics is what the quote covers. Our single implant prices cover the implant and the abutment, and the crown is listed separately in your written plan, so you can see the full cost to a finished tooth before treatment begins. When comparing quotes, always ask each clinic for the total to a finished tooth, in writing. If you are holding estimates from more than one clinic, bring them, and you will be told plainly what each one does and does not include. There is further discussion on the implant costs page.

Types of implant treatment

Single tooth implant

One implant carrying one crown. The neighboring teeth are left untouched, which is the main advantage over a conventional bridge.

Several missing teeth

An implant-supported bridge spans a gap using fewer implants than teeth — commonly two implants carrying three or four units. Details of the various configurations are on the placement options page.

Full arch: All-on-4 and All-on-6

A complete upper or lower set of fixed teeth carried on four or six implants, angled to make use of the bone that remains. This is the option for people who have lost most of their teeth or are wearing a full denture they cannot tolerate. Four implants is the more economical configuration; six spreads the load further and is often preferred where bone quality allows. See All-on-4 and All-on-6 for the comparison.

Immediate and immediate-load implants

An immediate implant is placed at the same appointment as the extraction, which preserves bone and removes a healing wait. Immediate loading fits a temporary tooth on the implant straight away, so you are not left with a visible gap. Neither is suitable in every case — both depend on the implant achieving enough initial stability in the bone — but where they are possible they shorten treatment considerably. The Teeth-in-an-Hour guided protocol is the most compressed version of this.

Implant-retained dentures

If a fixed full arch is beyond budget, a small number of implants can anchor a removable denture so it stops moving. Mini implants are used for denture stabilisation, and hybrid dentures combine the two approaches.

When you have been told there is not enough bone

This is the most common reason people are turned away from implant treatment, and it is frequently not the final answer. Bone recedes once a tooth has been missing for a while, so the question is rarely whether bone has been lost, but whether what remains can be worked with or rebuilt. Several techniques exist to treat exactly this situation, and which one suits you is decided from a CBCT scan rather than from a flat X-ray or a photograph.

  • Bone grafting rebuilds height or width in the jaw before the implant is placed, at Rs 10,000 to Rs 45,000 per site depending on how much has to be rebuilt

  • Sinus lift surgery creates bone height in the upper back jaw, beneath the sinus floor, and is carried out by the oral and maxillofacial surgeons at this clinic

  • Ridge split widens a jaw that is too narrow to accept a standard implant, one of several approaches covered under oral surgery

  • Angled and All-on-4 configurations make use of available bone without grafting at all

  • Zygomatic implants anchor into the cheekbone rather than the upper jaw, for severe upper-jaw bone loss, at Rs 3,00,000 to Rs 4,00,000 for a complete upper jaw reconstruction

  • Pterygoid implants use dense bone at the back of the upper jaw to support a fixed bridge without a graft, at Rs 35,000 to Rs 45,000 per implant

Two of these matter more than the rest if you have been told implants are impossible. Zygomatic and pterygoid placement are surgical techniques that many general dental practices do not offer, which is why the answer you received may have been accurate for that clinic rather than accurate for your jaw. Full pricing for each route is on the implant cost page.

The honest caveat: none of these is automatic. Grafting adds healing time before the implant can go in, some cases genuinely are better served by a denture or a bridge, and uncontrolled diabetes, smoking and active gum disease all affect how well bone accepts an implant. We will tell you which category you fall into after the scan, including when the answer is that treatment is not worth it in your case.

If you have been told there is not enough bone, bring the X-ray or scan you were shown. A second opinion here is a standard consultation, and it is worth having before you accept dentures as the only option.

Aftercare and how long implants last

Implants do not decay, but the bone and gum around them can be lost to infection in much the same way as around a natural tooth. Peri-implantitis is the main long-term risk, and it is driven by plaque, smoking and skipped reviews rather than by the implant itself.

Looked after properly, an implant is a long-term restoration. The crown on top is a separate matter and may need replacing at some point over the years, which is normal and worth factoring into the cost of treatment rather than being surprised by later. Practical guidance is on the implant aftercare page.

Digital Implant Planning and Computer-Guided Dental Implant Surgery

Modern dental implant treatment begins long before the implant is placed. At Advanced Dental Care Center, implant treatment can be planned using 3D CBCT imaging and digital implant planning to evaluate the jawbone, surrounding anatomical structures and the ideal position of the future tooth or prosthesis.

How Is a Dental Implant Planned?

Every implant case is different. Before treatment, the dentist evaluates your oral health, existing teeth, gums, bone volume and the planned final restoration.

A typical digital implant planning process includes:

1. 3D CBCT scan
A CBCT scan provides three-dimensional information about the jawbone and important anatomical structures. It helps assess bone height and width and the location of structures such as the inferior alveolar nerve and maxillary sinus.

2. Assessment of bone and anatomy
The available bone is carefully evaluated to determine whether an implant can be placed directly or whether additional procedures, such as bone grafting or a sinus lift, may be required.

3. Virtual implant positioning
The implant can be planned digitally before surgery. Its position, angulation and depth are evaluated in relation to the available bone and the planned final tooth.

4. Prosthetically guided planning
The position of the final crown, bridge or full-arch prosthesis is considered during implant planning. This helps the surgical and restorative aspects of treatment work together rather than planning the implant position based only on the available bone.

5. Computer-guided surgery, when indicated
For selected cases, the digital plan can be transferred to a customized surgical guide. This can help the clinician reproduce the planned implant position during surgery.

6. Implant placement and restoration
The implant is placed according to the treatment plan, followed by the appropriate healing and restorative stages. The final crown or prosthesis is designed to provide appropriate function, appearance and hygiene access.

Why Is Digital Implant Planning Important?

Digital planning can provide a more detailed understanding of the patient’s anatomy before surgery and can help identify potential challenges in advance.

Depending on the individual case, it may help with:

  • Evaluating available bone before implant placement

  • Identifying important anatomical structures

  • Planning implant position and angulation

  • Determining whether bone grafting or sinus augmentation may be required

  • Coordinating implant placement with the planned final teeth

  • Planning complex cases such as multiple implants and full-arch rehabilitation

  • Improving communication between the surgical and restorative teams

  •

Is Computer-Guided Implant Surgery Suitable for Everyone?

Not necessarily. Guided implant surgery is a treatment-planning and surgical technique, not a requirement for every implant case. The appropriate approach depends on factors such as bone anatomy, the number and position of implants, the type of restoration planned and the patient’s overall oral condition.

A clinical examination and appropriate imaging are required before deciding whether conventional or computer-guided implant placement is suitable.

At Advanced Dental Care Center, Chandigarh, implant treatment is planned according to the individual patient’s anatomy, oral health and restorative requirements rather than using the same approach for every case.

Common questions about dental implants

Does getting a dental implant hurt?

The surgery itself is carried out under local anaesthetic and you should not feel pain during it. Afterwards, expect soreness and some swelling for a few days, manageable with ordinary painkillers. Most patients describe it as less difficult than they expected and comparable to an extraction. Any clinic advertising the procedure as pain-free is overstating it.

How long do dental implants last?

The implant itself is designed as a permanent restoration and can last decades with good hygiene and regular reviews. The crown or bridge on top has a shorter life and may need replacing during that time.

What is the difference between All-on-4 and All-on-6?

Four implants or six carrying a full arch of fixed teeth. Six distributes the load across more points and is generally preferred where bone allows; four is less costly and is well documented. Which suits you depends on your bone volume and bite, not on preference.

Can the implant be placed the same day the tooth is removed?

Sometimes. Immediate placement requires a site free of active infection and enough bone to hold the implant firmly at placement. Where it is possible it saves months.

Is an implant better than a bridge?

In most cases, yes, because a bridge requires the healthy teeth on either side of the gap to be cut down to carry it, and an implant does not. A bridge remains the better answer in some situations, and you should be given both options with the reasoning.

Which implant brand do you use?

Nobel Biocare, Straumann, Zimmer and Osstem, plus Adin as our budget system. The system is selected for your case and stated in your written plan.

Do you treat patients with diabetes or on blood thinners?

Yes, with planning. Well-controlled diabetes is not a barrier to implant treatment. Medication is reviewed and, where appropriate, coordinated with your treating physician before surgery.
